Steube Cosponsors Resolution Designating an Official “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day”

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) cosponsored a resolution expressing support for designating March 29th as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.”

“Our district is honored to be home to over 74,000 veterans, many of whom served in Vietnam,” Steube said. “Unfortunately, these veterans did not receive the proper recognition they deserved when they arrived home from serving our country decades ago. Designating an official day of recognition for their service is a small step towards giving them the appreciation they deserve.”

Supporting veterans and improving their quality of life has been a top initiative for Steube in Congress. Earlier this year, Steube reintroduced several pro-veteran bills in the 117th Congress, including the VA Fiscal Responsibility Act, Modern GI Bill Act, and the Veterans’ True Choice Act.

The VA Fiscal Responsibility Act seeks to promote efficiency and fiscal responsibility by directing the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to improve its third-party billings and collections procedures. This would ensure that veterans are not held fiscally responsible for the system’s failure to proactively capture the third-party billings that go uncollected.

The Modern GI Bill Act allows veterans who are entitled to Post-9/11 educational assistance through the GI Bill to use eligible funds to repay federal student loans incurred prior to military service. This would lessen the financial burden on veterans and incentivize educated individuals to enlist in our military.

He also reintroduced the Veterans’ True Choice Act, which would expand health insurance options for disabled veterans and enable service-connected veterans to use TRICARE Select and TRICARE for Life.
