Rep. Steube Backs Punta Gorda’s Trabue Park Redevelopment Grant Application
WASHINGTON—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) sent a letter to the National Park Service supporting the City of Punta Gorda’s Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program application to redevelop Trabue Park.
“Punta Gorda has worked hard to rebuild and strengthen its community following Hurricane Milton, and this project would give residents more opportunities to enjoy one of the city’s greatest assets: its waterfront,” said Rep. Steube. “I’m pleased to support the city’s application and urge the National Park Service to give this locally driven project its fullest consideration.”
Trabue Park is an underutilized, roughly 10-acre waterfront property along the Peace River that serves as part of Punta Gorda’s broader waterfront recreation network. The proposed redevelopment would transform the park into a more accessible and vibrant destination for outdoor recreation, giving residents and families more opportunities to enjoy the waterfront.
The proposed improvements would support the revitalization of Punta Gorda’s East Side community as the area continues recovering from Hurricane Milton.
