Steube Praises Highlands County Leadership During COVID-19 Pandemic and Beyond

SEBRING, FLA.—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today visited Highlands County and met with the Board of County Commissioners, the Sheriff’s Department, Health Department, School Superintendent, and the Highlands County Emergency Management Manager.

“Though this year has presented our rural communities with a unique set of obstacles, our dedicated local officials have kept Highlands County safe and thriving,” Steube said. “As we continue to work together on issues ranging from our response to the pandemic, empowering farmers, and protecting Florida’s veterans, I am grateful to be able to count on public servants like these for their capable and caring leadership.”

Steube first met with the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners for a Q&A session and discussed issues ranging from COVID-19 relief legislation to federal policy initiatives to benefit America’s veterans. One major topic was the release of CARES Act funding to rural communities after Steube wrote a letter to Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) urging further action to empower rural areas like Highlands County.
