ICYMI: Rep. Steube Meets with Members of North Port’s Ukrainian Community

NORTH PORT, Fla. — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) last week met with members of North Port’s Ukrainian community. Rep. Steube joined Yuri Kaplan, a former Refugee Resettlement Director of Ukrainian Family Reunification Cases and his wife, Julia, Pastor Jay Sheppard of Tri-City Baptist Church and his wife, Trina, several community volunteers, as well as Ukrainian families who have fled the country due to the Russian invasion.

The group gathered at the European Food Market, a small business owned by Oksana Radkovsvka to discuss the announcement of the Uniting for Ukraine program, local services for Ukrainians in the U.S., and U.S. aid and military equipment for Ukraine.

“While Ukraine fights for their freedom against Putin’s evil aggression, it’s critical we continue ensuring our Ukrainian neighbors are supported. I voted in favor of sending U.S. aid to Ukraine. We need to continue to equip Ukraine with the tools they need – not just from the United States, but also from our NATO allies and the Western European countries,” said Congressman Greg Steube. “I take seriously my responsibility to be the voice in Washington for a vibrant community of Ukrainian-Americans here in southwest Florida. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office if I can assist you.”

If you know someone in Eastern Europe who needs U.S. State Department Assistance, please call Congressman Steube’s office at 941-499-3214.
