Rep. Greg Steube Thanks SCFD Emergency Personnel for Responding to his Accident

SARASOTA — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) met with Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) personnel on Tuesday to express his appreciation to the Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics who responded to his accident.

“The day of my accident is a strong reminder that God’s hands are always working in our lives. I’m grateful God placed such incredible first responders on call that day,” said Rep. Greg Steube. I’m certain my recovery has been positively impacted by the fact that I received care so quickly. I’m thankful to SCFD Firefighter/Paramedic in Charge Chris Matthews, SCFD Firefighter/EMT Mark Parisi, SCFD Lieutenant Firefighter/EMT Miguel Fenix, and SCFD Firefighter Paramedic in Charge Dave Simons for not only treating me, but going to work every day to help all who need emergency assistance in our community.”

“Our firefighters, EMTs and paramedics work hard to provide the best possible care during any emergency, but don’t often see the outcome. To have the opportunity to reunite with a patient is rare but so rewarding for our firefighters. We greatly appreciate Representative Steube for taking time from his recovery to thank our responders,” said Sarasota County Fire Chief David Rathbun.

After falling 25 feet in an accident on his property in January, Rep. Steube was under the care of an expert team of Sarasota County Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedic personnel within minutes. The team quickly transported Rep. Steube to Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Trauma Center.

Sarasota County’s fire service represents over 100 years of dedicated and heroic service by professional firefighters, paramedics and EMTs. The Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) is an all-hazards department that provides fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS) and special operations, which includes response to hazardous materials and technical rescue incidents.
