Steube Congratulates Tampa Bay Lightning’s Stanley Cup Win on House Floor
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Representatives Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) were today joined by members of the Florida congressional delegation in introducing a resolution congratulating the Tampa Bay Lightning on their 2020 Stanley Cup victory.
“The Tampa Bay Lightning had an incredible season and made Floridians proud with this year’s unforgettable Stanley Cup win,” Steube said. “The Stanley Cup was the first major sports trophy awarded since the pandemic began, representing a truly historic and challenging season where players, coaches, and staff spent over two months away from their homes and families.”
On September 28, 2020, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars 2-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, securing their second 2020 Stanley Cup championship in franchise history, and their first since 2004.
“On behalf of the loyal Bolts fans in our community and around our state, I am honored to introduce this resolution with my colleagues to commemorate the Tampa Bay Lightning’s historic achievement on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives,” Steube said.
“The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Stanley Cup championship is one of the brightest spots of 2020 so far,” Castor said. “Our Tampa Bay neighbors need a bit of joy, and I’m grateful for the heart, determination, and grit of the Lightning in bringing home the Cup. Go Bolts!”
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) have introduced a companion resolution in the U.S. Senate also congratulating the Tampa Bay Lightning on their Stanley Cup championship.
