Steube Gives Remarks at Groundbreaking for the Charlotte Harbor Water Association’s Distribution System Improvements Project
PUNTA GORDA, FLA.—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today gave remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Charlotte Harbor Water Association’s Distribution System Improvements Project. This project will replace 16 miles of old water mains, install new fire hydrants, and provide much-needed upgrades to the community’s existing infrastructure.
“Our local infrastructure is key to maintaining safe and clean water,” Steube said. “This is a massive achievement for our state and Charlotte County and is an incredible step towards cleaner water for Floridians. I look forward to working with these dedicated local officials and nonprofit organizations to fulfill our shared goals moving forward.”
This project is the largest of its type conducted by a non-profit utility organization and only one of three in the nation to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to improve rural infrastructure. The project will be divided into three separate project areas, or sections.
The sections will be divided as follows:
- Section One: The project area runs from Peace River Drive and Seafarer Drive west to View Drive and Discovery Drive east and north to Sunnybrook Road.
- Section Two: The project area runs from Peace River Drive and Harbour Drive west to Highlands Road and from Santa Barbara Drive and Sunnybrook Road north to Adams Street and Addington Place.
- Section Three: The project area runs from Harbour Drive west to Sulstone Drive and Highlands Road and from Monroe Street north to Neaptide Drive and Harbour Cove Place.
