Steube Provides DC Update to Hardee County Rotary Club Meeting

WAUCHULA, FLA. – U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today joined the Hardee County Rotary Club to provide an update on the latest news out of Congress related to COVID-19 legislation, veterans policy initiatives, and other local issues.

“Throughout the pandemic, many of our rural counties like Hardee have dealt with unique challenges and required specialized solutions from both the federal and local levels,” Steube said. “We have made meaningful progress towards recovery, but there is still more work to be done to reopen our businesses, send our children back to school and keep Floridians healthy, both in Hardee County and beyond.”

Steube worked closely with Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) to help distribute CARES Act funds to rural counties and municipalities that did not initially receive aid. Later, the State of Florida announced a plan to disburse up to $1.275 billion of these funds to counties with a population below 500,000.

Florida received over $8 billion in relief funding through the Coronavirus Relief Fund included in the CARES Act.

Among other topics discussed were Steube’s recent veterans policy initiatives in Congress, and participants expressed support for President Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court.
