Steube Sends Letter to SBA Urging Investigation into Paycheck Protection Program Funds to the Florida Democrat Party Building Fund
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) joined colleagues in sending a letter to Small Business Administration Inspector General, Hannibal “Mike” Ware, urging him to investigate the distribution of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds to the Florida Democrat Party Building Fund.
“The Paycheck Protection Program was intended to help small businesses and non-profits keep their employees on payroll during the COVID-19 pandemic – not political organizations like the Florida Democrat Party,” Steube said. “This is just another example of the left manipulating the COVID-19 crisis and the Paycheck Protection Program to advance their partisan priorities, and we will get to the bottom of this fraud.”
In June, it was reported that the Florida Democrat Party Building Fund received a Paycheck Protection Program loan of between $350,000 and $1 million to secure the jobs of 100 employees. False statements in connection with a PPP loan application may be a felony.
This action from Steube follows an earlier letter sent in May to U.S. Department of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin requesting him to return money to the Paycheck Protection Program from the first tranche that was given to Large Revenue Corporations.
