Steube to Attend Farmers to Families Food Box Program Event in Lakeland with Secretary Sonny Perdue
SARASOTA, FLA. – U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) on Monday will attend the opening of a Farmers to Families Food Box Program distribution center at One More Child in Lakeland with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.
“The Farmers to Families Food Box Program not only helps our famers in need, but it also benefits the families struggling to put food on the table in a time of crisis,” Steube said. “Agriculture is the lifeblood of our economy and I look forward to joining Secretary Perdue in Florida to support this program.”
The Farmers to Families Food Box Program is part of the USDA’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this program, the USDA is partnering with national, regional, and local suppliers to purchase up to $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat products. These products are packaged into family-sized boxes then transported to local food banks, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits for distribution.
The Farmers to Families Food Box Program distribution center in Lakeland will be at One More Child, a faith-based organization that provides safe, stable, Christian homes and services to children and families in need.
