PUNTA GORDA, FLA.—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today toured the Charlotte County Emergency Operations Center for a briefing on the community’s response to COVID-19 and plans for hurricane season.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Charlotte County Emergency Operations Center has been a leader in public safety and their team has worked around the clock to keep us all safe and informed.” Steube said. “As we prepare for the rest of this hurricane season, it is reassuring to know that Charlotte County is in capable hands.”
Steube met with Charlotte County Emergency Management Director Patrick Fuller to discuss county partnerships with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Florida Department of Health (FL DOH), and the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FL DEM).
The Charlotte County Office of Emergency Management is accredited by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Emergency Operations Center is at Level Two of activation with limited staffing based on the size and type of emergency.
