Steube Votes No on Trillion Dollar Biden Wish List Budget
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) yesterday voted against H.Con.Res. 11, the FY21 budget resolution proposed by House Democrats. This budget resolution includes President Biden’s wasteful and misguided $1.9 trillion stimulus plan.
“Yet again, Democrats are abusing the legislative process and changing the rules to implement their radical policies at the expense of the hardworking American taxpayer,” Steube said. “This is not a reasonable budget or recovery plan – it will only lead to more economic failures, job losses, and debt for our future generations. The only real path to recovery will be through opening the economy, not forcing government dependency on the American people.”
Currently, there is roughly $1.3 trillion available in unused, previously appropriated pandemic funds. However, Biden’s plan would increase this amount even more, thereby skyrocketing the national debt and jeopardizing future economic recovery.
Included in this resolution is a plan to provide a third round of stimulus checks at $1,400. Steube has opposed previous measures to redistribute wealth unnecessarily. At current spending levels, Congress has already created $2.2 trillion in new debt, which means $18,000 in government debt per household.
This resolution also seeks to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, a measure which could threaten up to 1.3 million jobs, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
As of January 2021, the national debt has already surpassed $27.5 trillion. This budget resolution would largely increase the national debt because it would allow for up to a $2.1 trillion deficit between FY21 and FY30.
