U.S. House Approves Steube Amendment to Keep Radical Gender Ideology and Pornography Out of DoD Schools

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House of Representatives today approved U.S. Representative Greg Steube’s amendment to H.R. 8070 Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025. The amendment prohibits the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) from using any funds from this act to purchase, display, or maintain material that promotes radical gender ideology or pornographic content.

“Today, my amendment passed the House to ensure we protect the children entrusted to DoD schools by our men and women in uniform,” said U.S. Rep. Greg Steube. “A litany of examples exist of inappropriate and pornographic material that is available in DoD schools. Radical gender ideology and pornographic content have no place in an educational setting and could seriously harm the educational and psychological development of school children belonging to our U.S. service members. Yet, radical leftists desire to use schools as a tool to indoctrinate our children as soon as they enter Kindergarten. Congress has the power to put a stop to it in DoD schools, and I’m glad my colleagues supported my efforts today on the floor.”

Fox News looked into over 50 schools, selected at random, at the DoDEA and reported in 2022 that “many of the pornographic and radical gender ideology books were added within the last two years amid President Biden taking office.”

DoDEA serves nearly 70,000 children of active duty military and DoD civilian families at more than 160 schools in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, and several U.S. territories. DoDEA is one of only two Federally-operated school systems. They are responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of Defense.
