Rep. Steube Reintroduces Clean Up DEBRIS Act

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) reintroduced today the Clean Up Disasters and Emergencies with Better Recovery and Immediate Support Act or Clean Up DEBRIS Act. This bill would allow common interest communities, condominiums, and other private housing cooperatives to receive debris removal assistance from the federal government after a natural disaster or emergency.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) joined with Senator Rick Scott on Friday to introduce both the Flood Insurance Transparency Act of 2025 and the Removing Barriers to Private Flood Insurance Act. These two bills would increase transparency with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and facilitate the entrance of private and state insurers into the flood insurance market.

Rep. Steube Introduces the Streamlining FEMA Procurement Procedures Act

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced today the Streamlining FEMA Procurement Procedures Act. This bill directs the President of the United States to take necessary action to allow local governments to utilize qualifications-based Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) procurement methods to carry out certain tasks. It also allows for expedited project reviews by raising the “simplified procedure” threshold.

Rep. Steube and Sen. Scott Introduce Bill to Extend Federal Disaster Tax Relief

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced today the Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act. This bill extends the landmark 2024 law providing tax relief for individuals impacted by federally declared disasters. This will permit victims to claim disaster-related personal casualty losses without having to itemize deductions through 2026. Senator Rick Scott has introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.
