WASHINGTON–U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today joined Rep. Craig Goldman (R-Texas) and Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) to introduce the Stop EU Overreach Act, legislation that directs the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to launch a Section 301 investigation into European Union (EU) sustainability mandates with extraterritorial reach that could impose more than $1 trillion in compliance costs on American businesses. The bill’s current cosponsors include Reps. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), and Buddy Carter (R-Ga.). The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council endorsed the legislation. 

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.) today introduced the Helping Undergraduate Students Thrive with Long-Term Earnings (HUSTLE) Act, bipartisan legislation that would create first-of-its-kind tax-advantaged investment accounts allowing college athletes to grow their name, image, and likeness (NIL) earnings without federal income tax liability and build lasting financial security. This bill is led in the Senate by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.).

This bill would clarify existing gaps in the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) rules governing employer contributions to employee benefit plans. 

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced today the Countering Harmful Adversarial Rechargeable and Generative Energy Act or CHARGE Act. This bill would prohibit the importation of energy storage systems containing remote monitoring capabilities from Chinese entities.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced yesterday the Criminals’ Loss of Eligibility and Assistance Networks Act or CLEAN Act. This bill prohibits sex offenders from receiving federally funded Medicaid benefits as well as the refundable tax credit for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. 

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) introduced today the Ending Exploitative Imported Labor Exemptions Act or EXILE Act. This bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act by ending the H-1B visa program. 

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R Fla.) introduced today the Worldwide Animal Testing Compliance and Harmonization Act or WATCH Act. This bill would prohibit federal funding for foreign laboratories found to be in violation of animal welfare protections.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Darren Soto (D-Fla.) introduced today the Ensuring Consistency in Nutrition Labels Act. This bill would strengthen the FDA’s requirements for food nutrition labels by reducing the nutrition labeling deviation threshold from 20% to 5%.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) introduced yesterday the Disposing of Inactive Structures and Properties by Offering for Sale And Lease Act or DISPOSAL Act. This bill would require the auction of unused and underutilized federal buildings. 

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) introduced this week the Taxpayer Protection and Preparer Proficiency Act. This bill would establish new penalties for tax preparers for misuse of identification numbers and failure to comply with Internal Revenue Service requirements. 

PUNTA GORDA — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and Senator Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) joined local officials at a press conference today at the Punta Gorda Weigh Station Northbound highlighting their Safer Truckers Act.  This bill would create lawful U.S. residency requirements for the issuance of commercial drivers licenses (CDLs) and establish reporting requirements for the adherence of English proficiency standards with penalties for states that fail to meet said standards.
