As a veteran who served in the Army and deployed to Iraq, I am deeply committed to supporting America’s veterans. I’ve spearheaded Congressional reform efforts to provide veterans with health care choices outside of the VA system through my landmark legislation, The Veterans’ True Choice Act. I’ve also led on VA oversight issues in Congress, such as authoring a House-passed amendment to prevent VA employees from working on healthcare claims for illegal immigrants in ICE custody. I’m committed to crafting policies that ensure the VA works for our veterans, not against them. My office actively participates in the Library of Congress Veterans History Project Series, where we document the stories of FL-17’s veteran population for historical preservation.
