Steube Introduces Bill to Protect Small Businesses from Regulatory Rules

“Regulations in Washington are out of control and our small businesses are suffering. Too often, federal agencies enact unnecessary and burdensome rules that impede small businesses. This bill seeks to ensure that the opinions and concerns of small businesses are considered in the rulemaking process.”

Steube Introduces Bill to Protect Small Business’ Credit Data

Congress has attempted to protect consumers from these events, but unfortunately nothing has been done to protect our small businesses. It’s important that we lookout for these small businesses that are the backbone of our local economies.”

Steube Introduces Bill to Reschedule Marijuana

“As marijuana is legalized for medical and recreational use across the United States, it is important that we study the effects of the substance and the potential impacts it can have on various populations. By rescheduling marijuana from a schedule I controlled substance to a schedule III controlled substance, the opportunities for research and study are drastically expanded. With this rescheduling, researchers can now access federal funds to research this substance and determine its medical value.”

Steube Addresses Gulf Coast Citrus Growers Association at Annual Dinner

“Given my background in agriculture, I know the importance of farming in our community—agriculture is the lifeblood of Florida and I’m so proud to represent the industry in Washington, DC and to fight for these priorities in Congress. I’m working on a number of issues important to groups like the Gulf Coast Citrus Growers Association, including the Defending Domestic Produce Production Act (H.R. 101), which will allow for seasonal growers to collectively petition and lodge trade complaints to help combat Mexican, Chinese, and Brazilian oranges that come into the United States. I’m a co-sponsor of this bill and I know the importance of getting provisions like this passed for our farmers.”

Steube Announces Opposition to the Proposed Budget Agreement

“I cannot in good conscience vote for a budget proposal that would add over $300 billion in new spending with zero offsets. For too long we have kicked the can down the road when it comes to our ever-growing national debt, and though I am pleased by the reversal of the sequester that would try to balance the budget on the backs of our military, this bill simply spends too much money.”

Steube Slams Nadler for Silencing Junior Judiciary Members in Favor of #Famous11

“Apparently, Chairman Nadler doesn’t think that the people of Florida—and a number of other states—deserve a voice in one of the most important hearings of this Congress. Instead, he wants to limit debate to only a #Famous11 while denying me and my colleagues the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Mueller. The American people deserve better.”

Steube Denounces Amendment Limiting President Trump’s Authority to Protect America and Her Allies

“It is sad that some of my colleagues seek to undermine the president’s authority with an amendment that protects the Ayatollah instead of our nation’s security interests. I lost brothers and sisters in arms during my service in Operation Iraqi Freedom thanks to Iranian improvised explosive devices, and we cannot sit by as these state sponsors of terror try to acquire nuclear weapons. A nuclear Iran is a threat to America, our allies around the globe, the entire Middle East, and our friends in Israel.
Nobody wants war with Iran, but a distinction between war and protecting American interests in the region must be made. The president should be able to take timely and decisive action to protect our country and its servicemembers and this amendment subverts the president’s executive authority to do so. The president is the Commander in Chief, not Congress.”

Steube Introduces Resolution to Bring Home USS Pueblo

“Since 1968, North Korea has illegally held the USS Pueblo, and it is long past due that this vessel be rightfully returned to the United States’ possession. There are veterans in my district and across our country that served valiantly on this ship, and we ought to honor their service by bringing this ship home.”

Steube Introduces Valid Benefits Act to Verify Eligibility for Federal Benefits

“It’s estimated that in 2018 alone, dead people received $1 billion in benefits from Medicare, Medicaid, social security payments, and federal pensions. This bill simply directs federal departments and agencies to verify the eligibility of those seeking benefits who have reached the age of 105.”
