“We understand the economic hardship inflicted by COVID-19, but Americans don’t need inadequate stimulus checks and forced government dependency to get them back on their feet. Rather than prolonging economic suffering with failing, irresponsible legislation, our country needs to follow the lead of states like Florida and give Americans incentives and the opportunity to return to their jobs and normal lives.”

“This so-called relief bill fails to target the needs of citizens in our District and fails to bring much-needed relief to our fellow countrymen. Instead of addressing the economic suffering of Americans, Democrats have run the clock down so debate and meaningful compromise is impossible. Last week, a congressman from the Sunshine State signed a letter to U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Sec. Alex Azar calling on him to send unallocated funds from the Provider Relief Fund to long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities to buy equipment to test for COVID-19 and protect residents and staffers from it.

“Assisted living and long-term care facilities are on the front lines of caring for Florida’s most vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic but have not received adequate resources. As we round the corner towards beating the pandemic, we need to do everything possible to empower our seniors and their caregivers by allocating resources for rapid testing, vaccinations and treatments.”
