SARASOTA, Fla. —  U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today announced the nomination of 21 students in Florida’s 17th Congressional District to the U.S. Service Academies: the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, NY, the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, MD, the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, CO, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, NY. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, CT, is the fifth service academy and does not require a congressional nomination.

WASHINGTON —  U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today introduced the No Plea Deal with Terrorists Act to limit the availability of a plea deal for any person responsible for the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Specifically, the bill will require the President to direct the Attorney General to refuse any plea deal for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow Al-Qaeda conspirators responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks on America to the extent that such a plea would prevent a public trial and remove the possibility of the death penalty.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today announced his legislation, H.R. 5863,The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act, advanced out of the House Committee on Ways and Means. The bill passed out of committee unanimously 38-0. This bill extends rules for the treatment of certain disaster-related personal casualty losses and provides tax relief for losses due to federally declared disasters.
