“It’s clear Representative Ocasio-Cortez has never dealt with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or relied on them for care. If she had, she would know that their system is in dire need of reform. From veterans waiting 30-60 days for an appointment, suicide hotlines going to voicemail, to the rationing of medicine and vast cost overruns, this Department is failing on multiple fronts. To say that this is the level of care those who put their lives on the line to defend our nation deserve is frankly offensive.”

“I’m pleased to see that Attorney General Barr has followed the will of Congress and released the Mueller Report. After nearly two years of investigation by over 40 FBI personnel including over 2,800 subpoenas, nearly 500 search warrants, and over 500 witness interviews, we have what the President’s opponents have been asking for—the report.”

“As a veteran, I’m committed to ensuring that veterans receive the care they deserve, and I know that sometimes that care can include medical marijuana. Receiving the appropriate treatment to address your health care needs—using products that are legal in the state in which you live—should not preclude you from your Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.”

“Chain migration is a serious problem in this country. Under current law, hundreds of thousands of individuals immigrate to our country annually through immediate relative status. This bill would remove these immigration categories and make it so that all immigrants are on equal footing when it comes to applying for citizenship. I don’t think it’s fair that individuals get preferential treatment in immigration because they are distantly related to a citizen, so my bill creates an even playing field for all applicants.”

“After nearly two years of investigation, the report provided by Mr. Mueller and the principal conclusions from Attorney General Barr prove what President Trump has said all along—no collusion. I am glad to see this investigation concluded and I hope this will also put to rest the ongoing attempts by the Democratic majority in Congress to obstruct the President.”

“Instead of specifically addressing the persistent anti-Semitic remarks made by my colleague, House Democrats chose last week to make a mockery of this institution by giving her troubling behavior yet another pass. I am pleased that the House of Representatives now has an opportunity to consider legislation that directly addresses the growing problem of anti-Semitism that unfortunately exists inside our institution.”

“It’s important that we do all we can to honor our nation’s veterans. Our nation has long valued giving our Veterans the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital to visit national war memorials through national honor buses and honor flights. This bill would waive the various administrative and processing fees associated with visiting these memorials. These men and women made a valiant sacrifice by serving in the armed forces and giving them the opportunity to visit the memorials in their honor without pesky fees is the least we can do to recognize their service.”

“Today, I voted against H. Res. 183 because it failed to specifically condemn the remarks made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn). Her vile, anti-Semitic remarks should have been specifically condemned in this resolution, but instead, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle decided to look the other way. I will not be complicit in the trivializing of her behavior. Anti-Semitic behavior of all forms must be condemned—that’s what this was about.”

“As a Veteran and a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I know the importance of listening to Veterans to ensure they are receiving the care they deserve. This bill will direct the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to partner with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS) to conduct a small-scale study to review the findings from a previous radiation dose assessment (RDA) conducted by the Department of Defense (DOD). If there are discrepancies in the original RDA, I’m determined to get to the bottom of it.”

“It is important to commemorate this momentous anniversary. My hope is that with this Resolution we will shine a light on this often overlooked piece of American history. The Adams-Onís Treaty is not only an important part of my state’s heritage, but also the heritage of the United States. The Treaty paved the way for the later completion of the Louisiana Purchase and led to tremendous contributions to the United States economy from the Sunshine State.”

“Sound environmental policy is critical to the preservation and advancement of Florida’s economy and the way of life we enjoy as Floridians. Going back to my time in the state legislature, I have been dedicated to addressing Florida’s water quality issues by supporting infrastructure projects that address polluted runoff, as well as other environmental policy initiatives that protect our water and lands. Now, in Congress, I am doing everything I can to address these problems—red tide, Lake Okeechobee water levels, septic to sewer transitions in rural communities, etc.—and I’m committed to working with state, local, and federal officials to mitigate the troubling water issues our state has encountered.”

“Clearly, the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee don’t care about preventing gun violence, they simply are playing politics with Americans’ Second Amendment rights. The fact that Democrats do not want law enforcement notified if an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a background check is truly troubling.”
