Briefing held to discuss Midnight Pass re-opening

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Rep. Greg Steube and Sarasota County leaders held a virtual briefing on Thursday, March 30, to discuss the status and steps needed to re-open Midnight Pass in Sarasota County.

Prior to 1984 Little Sarasota Bay was open to the Gulf of Mexico. The opening pass seperated Casey Key and Siesta Key. It was known as Midnight Pass and it allowed fresh ocean water to flow freely into Little Sarasota Bay, flushing out debris and maintaining a healthy ecosystem.

Greg Steube Leads Congressional Effort to Have Medicare Include Chiropractic Care

Florida Daily – This week, U.S. Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., introduced a proposal “to provide Medicare coverage for all physicians’ services furnished by doctors of chiropractic care” and “ will ensure Medicare patients have access to chiropractic care as a non-drug alternative for pain management.”

Steube brought out the “Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act” and offered his reasons for introducing it.

Florida Rep Introduces Bill Allowing Congressional Employees To Store Firearms In Capitol Hill Offices

The Daily Caller – A Republican U.S. representative introduced a bill Friday allowing congressional employees to own, carry and store firearms in the Capitol.

Rep. Greg Steube’s The Safe Storage Lockers for House Official Buildings Act requires the installment and operation of storage lockers for protective weapons brought into the building, according to a press release from Steube’s office.

The Florida congressman referred to a rise in violent crime as justification for introducing the bill.

GOP rep unveils bill to install weapons lockers so House employees can take guns to work in ‘crime-ridden DC’

Fox News – Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., on Friday introduced legislation that would allow congressional employees to carry legally possessed weapons in self-defense to and from Capitol Hill and safely store them while at work.

The Safe Storage Lockers for House Office Buildings Act would require Capitol Police to install and operate lockers at the entrances of House office buildings where workers could store their weapons.

Florida lawmaker introduces new bill for hurricane tax relief

NBC 2 – In the midst of tax season, Florida Representative Greg Steube just introduced a new bill that would give those recovering from Hurricane Ian some much-needed tax relief. 

This would include the qualified disastrous parts of Southwest Florida for losses, big or small. 

“You deal with these disasters, and you don’t think about the tax implications of them,” Rep. Greg Steube said. 

Steube said he filed this bill during tax season because a CPA brought the issue to his attention.
