Steube Cosponsors Legislation to Expand Paycheck Protection Program to Include 501(c)(6) Organizations

“We have a responsibility to ensure that local chambers of commerce and nonprofits are empowered to fill their important role in our small business communities as they have before the COVID-19 pandemic. This bipartisan legislation will help small business owners address their unique problems with local resources and provide a support system that will continue to serve our communities long after this crisis subsides.”

Steube Urges U.S. Department of Treasury to Request Large Revenue Corporations Return PPP Funds

“The Paycheck Protection Program is vital to the continuation of many small businesses across the country. Corporations with alternative financing mechanisms took the loans first, and as a result, honest businesses are having to shut their doors. They should return this money and the federal government should create guidance to prevent this from happening again.”

Steube Introduces Bill to Close Loophole Allowing Candidates to Use Campaign Funds to Pay Family-Owned Vendors

“Our elections should be held to the highest ethical standards and this loophole only serves to invite corruption into the process. We should be serving the people as elected officials, not lining our own pockets. This legislation will add more protections for American campaign dollars and prevent candidates from violating the trust of the public.”

Steube Demands Former FBI Director Comey Testify Before House Oversight and Judiciary Committees After Allegations of Misconduct in Flynn Investigation

“The FBI documents show an abuse of our intelligence and legal systems to set up General Flynn, a decorated patriot who served with distinction. This deep state stunt was designed to attack the Administration and President Trump from the very beginning – Maloney and Nadler need to call Comey to testify under oath and explain this dangerous breakdown in our justice institutions.”

Steube Cosponsors Legislation to Award Congressional Gold Medal to Wuhan Whistleblower

“Dr. Li Wenliang bravely risked his safety to warn the public about COVID-19 despite the punishment he faced from the Communist Chinese government for speaking up. We should honor Dr. Wenliang with the Congressional Gold Medal to recognize his bravery and global service.”

Steube Urges Congressional Leaders to Withhold Federal Funding from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology

“With thousands of American businesses struggling as a result of this pandemic and questions raised about the true origin of the virus, we should not be using any taxpayer money to fund the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Their blatant disinformation surrounding the virus and potential mishandling of biohazardous materials demands strong Congressional oversight to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again.”

Steube Condemns China’s Appointment to United Nations Human Rights Council

“This is just another drop in the bucket for the United Nations’ failure to uphold the fundamental values of human rights. The Chinese Communist Party openly violates freedoms of belief, expression and privacy and now the United Nations expects them to prosecute the violations they themselves perpetuate – this dishonest attempt to excuse China’s abhorrent behavior should have us all rethinking our decision to fund this organization.”

Steube Introduces Bill to Hold China Financially Responsible for COVID-19

“The Chinese government’s failure to be transparent with global leaders about the Coronavirus outbreak is not only costing thousands of lives but also is causing serious economic harm for millions of Americans and businesses. We should not have to pay for China’s mistakes financially. This virus has already cost us enough.”

Steube Proposal to Ensure Veterans Have Access to State-Approved Medical Marijuana Programs Passes House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

“Through procedural action in today’s House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing, I was able to get an important proposal passed that will ensure veterans who are participating in state-approved medical marijuana programs are not denied their VA benefits. I think what happened today was an excellent example of bipartisanship and working together to serve America’s veterans. Though my bill did not receive a vote in this committee, Republicans and Democrats worked together to pass this amendment to ensure this important proposal is enacted. At the end of the day, it does not matter whose name is on the bill, as long as we are creating good policy that gets our veterans the care they deserve.”

Steube Introduces Bill to Increase Efficiency in Wait Times for Suppressor Purchases

“I have personally experienced the unnecessary delay of a suppressor application and as a member of Congress, I have met with many Floridians who have also experienced similar delays. A policy of delay, delay, delay is unacceptable and frankly violates the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.”
